Taurito

Taurito is a well kept secret on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria. Huddled on a sheer cliff face and hewn from solid rock, hotels hang as if suspended in mid air, giving the tiny resort an other worldly feel! Cosily sandwiched between Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogan (both about 15 minutes drive away), Taurito is a purpose-built resort which is quiet, laid back and relaxing. 

Holidays in Taurito have an upmarket feel which lends a certain air of exclusivity to the area and because there is little infrastructure to speak of, most nightlife options are catered to in the hotels themselves. This has enabled Taurito to avoid any honky tonk element and to remain the shy, retiring resort that gets the basics right.

A holiday in Taurito will suit beach lovers as the soft stretch of volcanic black sand is quite small but perfectly formed. Licked by gentle Atlantic waves, swimming is safe and the sheltered bay offers scuba diving and snorkelling adventures.

Taurito attracts couples and also appeals to families. Just behind the beach, Playa Taurito Lido is a great waterpark with all the usual splashy fun in the sun - helter skelters, corkscrews, kamikaze rides, a huge lagoon style pool and a kiddies activity pool - super watery fun for all ages! A small amusement area with outdoor decking (al fresco cocktails, anyone?), a mini golf course, mini disco and occasional live music provides some diversion from soaking up the rays and relaxing.
