Holidays to Acharavi will calm the soul as this once Greek teeny village now welcomes visitors and the locals have embraced tourism with open arms.
Holidays in Acharavi are an experience of Greece that has just barely hit the new century. The immediate feeling of calm is heightened by the almost incessant warm sunshine; the clear, clean waters shelving gently on the sand/shingle beach where children can play safely and parents and couples can relax and just enjoy the simple pleasures of the resort. That is not to say that holidays in Acharavi are dull and lifeless; on the contrary, the resort gets extremely busy in high season and there are plenty of distractions away from the beach.
Although daytimes are definitely geared towards the water babies, the views from the beach too are lovely with glimpses of the neighbouring resort of Roda and the wonderful mountains of nearby Albania towering in the distance. Evenings are a delight in Acharavi as the many tavernas and restaurants offer traditional and modern fare and the bars stay open until quite late!
Located about 40k from Corfu itself, Acharavi is surrounded by very pretty countryside and some typical Greek hamlets where the local men still congregate at the cafeneion to sip coffee, discuss world affairs and solve the problems of the world! In Acharavi, the village sprang up around the main road where traditional tavernas, tourist shops, supermarkets and bars are strung along and narrow byroads lead to the beach approx 10 mins walk away.
Continue at the roundabout in the centre of the resort, where the old pump used to stand (and a restaurant now sits today), and stroll a while further until you arrive at the old village of Acharavi. This is Greece as it was in Granny's time and there are more shops, typical tavernas and some delightful old buildings here.
All in all, holidays in Acharavi offer the simplicity of traditional Greek holidays side by side with modern amenities and all mixed in with real enjoyment and relaxation.
Aer Lingus operates direct flights from Ireland to Corfu and we offer a great selection of accommodation in various resorts throughout the island.
