{{emailAddress}}Ialyssos was once one of the 3 powerful cities of ancient Rhodes and is now a popular beach resort - in fact, it’s the original beach resort on the island. Ialysoss has a long pebbly beach with a wide range of hotels lining its promenade. It’s a popular beach for windsurfing, as unlike many beaches along the island, it isn’t sheltered in a bay. In neighbouring Ixia, there’s a nice sandy stretch to really soak up the summer sun.
Set back from the promenade, at the bottom of pine tree-covered hill is the old town of Trianda. The old town has typically narrow streets and a central square with tavernas and bars.
You’ll find a Byzantine Monastery as well as churches and ruins of 3rd-Century temples dedicated to Zeus and Athena. If you want to witness spectacular views, walk up the ‘Via Crucis’ to the crucifix and take in all the natural beauty Rhodes has to offer.
