C'an Picafort

The cute resort of C'an Picafort, located on Majorca's north-east coast, is almost tucked away from tourist hordes, allowing it to shine as a stand alone holiday destination in the beautful Bay of Alcudia, with peaceful Playa del Muro to the west.

Starting out as a local fishing community, as did many a Spanish holiday resort, C'an Picafort today is laid back, friendly and cheerfully modest still. The compact size of C'an Picafort only adds to its attraction and although the super sandy beach enjoys a long and languid stretch of over 2 klms, the actual resort is fairly tiny.

A pretty promenade, planted with tall palm trees, lines the front and protects a series of narrow streets where local and international restaurants, cafes, bars and shops huddle together and extend from the main street, Paseo Colon, down to the harbour and water's edge. Nightlife is pretty laid back, so this is not the place for wild partying with only a couple of low key clubs in the vicinity.

The beach is C'an Picafort's best attribute so sun lovers and slothful loungers will be transported to sandy heaven! C'an Picafort's beach is also a great place for watersports with pedalo rides and waterskiing the popular pastimes.

Located about 9 klms from Puerto Alcudia's historic old town, C'an Picafort has good public transport with local buses to Alcudia, Pollensa and the capital, Palma. The Port of Alcudia is worth a trip as the Hidro Park (watery fun in the sun!) and mini golf are perfect family attractions and the lovely architecture and sense of history adds to the general interest.

There are no direct flights to C'an Picafort, but flights to Palma Majorca operate regularly from Ireland. ClickandGo.com offers a selection of accommodation in the area.
