Totally laid back, friendly and casual, Calas de Mallorca holidays are just made to measure if you feel stressed or out of sorts and you need some balance in your life. This little heavenly niche of Majorca will restore your confidence and renew your vigour.
Located on the east coast of the pretty Balearic island of Majorca, about 70k from the gorgeous capital city, Palma, with its magnificent Gothic Cathedral, the resort of Calas de Mallorca has been purpose built for the visitor who seeks the comfort of a mild and kind Mediterranean climate. "Cala" means cove in English and, true to its name, Calas de Mallorca resort is snuggled in a sheltered cove where the sand is soft, the sea is shining, clean and clear and, in summertime the livin' is easy!
The sandy beach of Cala Domingos Gran is absolutely lovely. Safe for swimming with pale golden sand that slopes on a gentle incline, the waters are crystalline and translucent. Bathing is pure pleasure.
Essentially, holidays in Calas de Mallorca are quiet and tranquil, so if it's a hotbed of late night venues and clubs you're after, look away! There are a couple of discos and a handful of music bars, but the world will not be set on fire with the nightlife options here. Most of the entertainment centres around the scattering of large hotels and is focussed on the Centro Commercial which houses shops, a few bars and restaurants. Otherwise, the resort is a tranquil backwater.
The nearby local town of Felanitx is worth a trip for pottery shopping and it has a decent Sunday market. The inland town of Manacor has a firm reputation for its production of pearls. Exquisitely crafted jewellery has a worldwide audience and Manacor is the centre of it all. Consider a trip north to Porto Cristo to explore the wonderful natural phenomenon of the Caves of Drach and enjoy a concert recital by the underground lake!
Your holiday in Calas de Mallorca will be spent lolling on the beach or lounging by the hotel pool during the day with evenings idling by sipping cool drinks and tasting local Mallorquin specialities. Sounds a lot like heaven.....
