Majorca is the largest island of the well known Balearic group and holidays in Puerto Soller are not exactly what one expects from a Mallorquin sun escape. In reality, Puerto Soller holidays are far more than just a foray for sea and sand, but the resort offers a glimpse into real local life too.
Linked from the inland town of Soller, just 3 klms away, by a cute little wooden tramway (extant since 1913!), Puerto Soller opens up like a typical country seaside town, providing all the usual tourist delights including a great wide expanse of sandy beach (albeit manmade), a traditional port area and easy access with good transport links to the capital city, Palma and another Mallorquin jewel, the village of Deya.
Holidays in Puerto Soller are all about kicking back and relaxing without any of the busy trappings of other more commercialised resorts on the island's south coast. This is an area which is certainly geared for the visitor, but thankfully it lacks a boisterous element and is much more in tune with beauty and nature. A mere few kilometres away, lush green valleys of orange and olive groves scent the air and views of the lovely Tramuntana mountains offer a great sense of peace and tranquillity.
The port is cluttered with opulent yachts and pleasure craft and a pedestrianised walkway to the beach has loads of great cafes, shops and handy eateries, so a holiday in Puerto Soller is not without its sense of fun. A resort to enjoy a sun holiday with a difference, Puerto Soller shows a face of Majorca that is quite unique and very flattering. Lots of day-trippers visit Puerto Soller as it is just so attractive, and most leave unwillingly, wishing they were staying longer. The central plaza is very atmospheric with its cafes and local bars, so grab a perch, watch the world go by and enjoy a wonderful holiday in Puerto Soller.
There are several flights per week directly from Dublin to Majorca and we provide a brilliant selection of hotels in Puerto Soller and many other resorts on the island.
